Internet Connection

  • tried Sierra Wireless card from Unicel on home laptop. First install seemed okay but Internet Explorer wouldn't connect (and I need a different browser on that machine anyway!) Called unicel, they had me un/reinstall and no connection happend. Methi

  • tried sierra wireless card on work laptop in Xterra down on lower Main Drive. Installed fine, connected really slow, only two bars. Try from yurt.

  • hiked around boiler/util shed to see if another way to handle water runoff diversion. there is. requires chainsaw to cut up/remove a stack of down trees. sketched out idea.

  • notes: reviewed around well area, try my idea for going behind ut shed, finish trenches by boiler and to the woody way ditch, let the one problem area alone for now until seeded, and the bottom areas are all fine for now, may need gravel fillin later.
  • also...prob w/severe sickness wed+thurs was prob due to walking near septic area w/o putting mask back on. Showed chris but didn't go there today.

  • filled duct taped bag. Put both bags out on porch in am. Reflectix may be in wrong position? Will try that tomorrow.

  • dug cross-pipeline diversion ditch mid-hill, then dug uphill from there to crown, and then connection to main stream

  • notes: overnight the -ing black flies began. so, my efforts were seriously, majorly, mega- thwarted. Got only a fraction of what planned for accomplished prior to breaking down and returning to yurt. Chris to get bug supplies tomorrow.

  • cold! (in yurt and out) very brrrr! Not even up to 40F outside yet. Was below 50F in yurt this am. What a weekend to have moved the woodstove out! Lots of layers and hot teas. Well, at least its done, and its not like we could spend time doing it next

  • with lots o rain recently, reviewed work to date
  • some places where waiting for chris' help were problematic now:
  • at the tree stump and roots- was major blockage, no water flowing past that point. dug over further and hacked out under some. was able to get water flowing there.
  • One util shed pipe was spilling water into area i did last week. Propped it upright, but really this won't be fixed til chris does the corex t's.
  • Dug some more in ditch behind util shed where lots of downed trees. This really needs chainsaw to cut out of way before can finish.
  • Also: expanded ditch at bottom of area between woodshed and boiler, and dug new ditch to accomodate water seeping out from under boiler

  • note: Whole Lotta Mud! Was focused on work and didn't notice how very very muddy my jacket and jeans got. Yikes!

And...one positive of the cold is no flies today. Yeah!
